So I admit that my previous endorsement of Bill Richardson was a bit premature. Although I do like him, he is rather uninspiring and prone to gaffes. Also, at the time, Barack Obama didn't really have policies. That has been fixed.
Transparent Democracy is beautiful. Hell, everything on that page is pretty awesome.
And wouldn't it be nice to have a president that is actually inspiring when he speaks? I've come to think that this is, in fact, a very relevant skill... because I think Obama would have a much easier time inspiring people to follow his lead than any other candidate would, and thus could get a lot more done.
Meanwhile Hillary talks about how Republicans are evil, manufactures a never-ending stream of lies to which Obama is forced to spend too much time responding, and really has nothing going for her except that everyone likes her husband. Why is she leading in the polls? I don't understand it. :( I'd seriously consider voting for John McCain over her.
Now, Mitt Romney, on the other hand... God damn, I hate that guy. (PS. Huckabee is nice but dumb, Ron Paul's policies sound clever but would actually destroy us, and Giuliani 9/11 9/11 9/11, 9/11.)
Obama vs. McCain would be such a wonderful choice to have to make (although seeing Obama beat any of the other Republicans in a landslide would also be cool). Clinton vs. Romney would be a very sad choice to have to make (hopefully Bloomberg would save us).
Yep, I'm doing it again. As usual, starts at noon, Dec 31st, in my mom's basement. I'm told she's having it organized and recarpeted!
Please let me know if you're coming, and suggest some games.
My friend Dev -- founder of Fate of Io -- entered a Machinima contest. The goal was to use World of Warcraft to create a music video to go with one of three songs by The Ataris (some rock band).
I think he produced an amazing video:

He was selected as one of the ten finalists and is currently leading the voting:

If you have a chance, check out the other finalists and vote. The video by Dead Workers Party is also pretty good (and is in second as of this writing).

This guy is so awesome.
He is regularly called on to negotiate with people like Saddam Hussein, North Korea, Sudan (Darfur), etc... because apparently he's really good at it. He actively advocates talking to our enemies -- not making concessions, but talking to them. And he knows how to do it.
As the commercial says, 14 years in Congress, UN ambassador, energy secretary, governor of New Mexico, nominated for Nobel peace prizes, etc.; his resume is amazing. Take that, Obama.
Democrat, but supports free trade. (I'm actually really worried about all the protectionists that just found their way into Congress...)
Anti-tax, but also anti-deficit. (He advocates a constitutional amendment mandating a balanced budget.)
Advocates cap-and-trade system for CO2 reduction. (Hooray for green energy, but also hooray for market economics!)
Advocates withdrawing from Iraq and has a detailed strategy to make it work.
Oh, and Meph, he's pro-gun. ;)
Richardson came to Google yesterday and talked. Although he rambled a lot, I was extremely impressed with his policy positions. Which he actually described. Isn't that crazy? A politician actually went into details on policy. I was skeptical about the concept of withdrawing from Iraq, but he actually described details of how he'd make it work and won me over.
I'm hoping Hillary, Obama, and Edwards will destroy each other and leave this guy to take the primaries...
Can people please get me contact info so I can send invites? email matt [at] mattsteg.com
Well, we knew it was coming. It looks like the Bush administration is going after more of our rights. This time its 2nd amendment rights, of course.

Now I know some of you out there may be in favor of gun control, but I hope you'll rally together with us anti-gun control guys on this one simply due to the absurdity of the law. Gonzales and the Bush administration are trying to pass a law that would prohibit "suspected terrorists" from buying guns. Of course, we all realize that the word "suspected" can mean almost anything, and in reality this is just another erosion of our civil liberties as defined by our bill of rights.
Welcome to the Communist Pain Train! Next stop, the gas chambers. It is only logical that a suspected terrorists should be rounded up and exterminated. After all, I'm sure the powers that be are only looking out for our best interests. Am I right? Am I right?
It looks like the Democrats have engaged full steam to lose in 2008. To stem the tide of popular opinion turning their way, they've decided to make Jenni Engebretsen "Deputy CEO for Public Affairs" for the upcoming Democratic National Convention in Denver. Of course, shes better known as the RIAA mouthpiece that helped make the RIAA the worst and most hated company in America.

With this powerful tool in their arsenal, the Democrats are once again poised to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory...
