Northwest Airlines = Thieves
Posted by Temporal at 2006/01/25 13:42:55 CST

I received a letter from NWA yesterday explaining that because I did not report my items missing from my bags within 24 hours, they would not replace them.

This is, of course, total bullshit. They took my stuff. The games were in the bag when I gave it to them and they were not in the bag when they returned it to me. The fact that I did not search my own bag for missing items within 24 hours does not have any bearing on this fact, but it gives them a wonderful technicality on which they are free to fuck their customers.

As far as I am concerned, if NWA is unwilling to compensate me for theft that occurred under their watch, while performing a service I paid them for, then NWA itself has committed that theft.

Re-report the thefts next time you fly?

This is where being the irate customer comes in handy, learned from many many, MANY long hours of working at monkey Wards:

If you complain long enough, loud enough, and your request could be granted, management will give you what you want just to make you go away.

It works every single time. I've managed to return opened PC games to best buy this way. Since you are asking for about $200 in lost games, which is less than what they offer to people on overbooked flights, you can probably get some money out of them eventually.

Call the buggers up every day at the same time of day until either they give you what you want, or the police issue you with a restraining order.
