Congress wants to ban weblogging, social networking

At least, from minors, while in schools or libraries.

Yes, Congress seems to think that prohibiting kids from socializing is a reasonable way to protect them from "sexual predators". How ridiculous is this? Why don't we ban kids from going to playgrounds, while we're at it? After all, there might be pedophiles there!

Here's a crazy idea: Why don't we teach kids how to avoid danger online?

The school system is failing, we cant teach kids anything! We need to protect our children from themselves until they are 18! Once a child reaches 18, they suddenly become intelligent adults, able to make rational decisions for themselves that they could do at 17 years and 11 months. </sarcasm>

Reminds me of the Mother in rochester who tried to get peanut butter banned in all public schools because her dumbass kid was allergic. The Argument? "What if little billy trades his sandwitch with another child! What if there are peanuts in the school lunch?" It almost passed too.

I don't think congress is actually dumb enough to pass Rep. Michael Fitzpatrick's bill but in the event that they do at least we will be safe in knowing that there is no way that this could be enforced.

Hopefully Rep. Fitzpatrick's bill was kind enough to include funds for these poor schools and libraries to beef up their network security.

This passed the house in a 410-15 vote.

What. The. Fuck.
