What is this bullshit!?

I was going to write a long post picking apart and refuting each and every sentence of this ridiculous video, but someone already did it for me:

Dear ISPs: I pay you for bandwidth. I expect to be able to use it for whatever I want, to communicate with any server I want, without restrictions. If you need more money to build your networks, raise the fucking prices.

If I buy a TV, I expect it to work with every TV channel and every device I might hook up to it. I do not expect it to only work with products of companies who have paid off the TV manufacturer. Same goes for my internet connection.

Companies like AT&T and Bell South are actively saying that they can and will start breaking Net Neutrality and charging such fees soon. This is why people are suddenly pushing for this "regulation": because the ISPs have suddenly started saying that they intend to change things. Unfortunately, Congress so far seems to be siding with AT&T.

Through the miracle of the internet, you can write a letter to your members of Congress directly through this site:
http://www.savetheinternet.com/

Of course, if your ISP had their way, you probably wouldn't be able to access that site.

Quote from Ed Whitacre, CEO of AT&T:

How do you think they're [Google, Yahoo, MSN, etc.] going to get to customers? Through a broadband pipe. Cable companies have them. We have them. Now what they would like to do is use my pipes free, but I ain't going to let them do that because we have spent this capital and we have to have a return on it. So there's going to have to be some mechanism for these people who use these pipes to pay for the portion they're using. Why should they be allowed to use my pipes?

The Internet can't be free in that sense, because we and the cable companies have made an investment and for a Google or Yahoo! (YHOO ) or Vonage or anybody to expect to use these pipes [for] free is nuts!

Well, Ed, if internet content providers didn't exist, how would you get customers? Indeed, no one would want broadband if there were not web sites to browse through it. Perhaps you should be paying Google for making the internet so much more usable, and thus giving your customers a reason to pay you for your service.
