White Knight Story for PS3 is really pretty: WMV Quicktime

However, since I can experience the prettiness just fine by watching the trailer, and since there's no particular reason to believe that the game is any fun to play, I feel no inclination to buy it, nor the $6 million, 10-ton black monolith required to play it.

I don't even have an X-Box 360 yet. FPSs, sports, and racing games. Oh boy. Just like all the other FPSs, sports, and racing games that I've been playing for the last decade.

And PC games... FPSs and MMORPGs. One hasn't changed much since I started playing them in middle school. The other is -- as far as I can tell -- intentionally designed to be the most mind-numbingly boring thing that anyone has ever spent $15/mo. for the right to do. Oh yeah, and there's also the fucking Sims.

What have video games come to?

Wait. Hmm, what's this? Red Steel?

...

Holy shit! Sign me the fuck up! Where can I preorder? WHY IS NO ONE TAKING PRE-OREDRS YET!?!

Amazon had Wii Preorders for a few hours, I was just lucky enough to order when I did.

Company of Heroes is a cool RTS.
Saints Row, despite being OMG A GTA CLONE, is quite enjoyable. The In Game Cinematics are WAY better than those in the GTA series and there is just a lot that they actually improve on gameplay wise. "You mean I can keep as many cars in a garage as I want? And if I take a car will forever be in my garage or repair shop, even if I take it out for a trip down to the peir and drop it into the water? Sweet!" Plus their Havoc Physics make hitting Peds fun. There I said it.
Dead Rising is fun as well, that is, if you enjoy killing hordes of zombies. In Game Cinematics aren't that bad either, though the gameplay at times screams Japanese Developer (which is the case with Capcom).

PREORDERED!!!

Gamestop and EB Games (same company) took preorders for the Wii today (Friday).

Wondering how early I should show up, I called EB Games Sunnyvale (#4988) last night and asked what the lines were like for the PS3 preorder on Tuesday. They said the first guy showed up at 5AM and the last person to get one arrived around 8:45. (Store opens at 10:00.) I figured that there wouldn't be as much pressure with the Wii preorder since: (a) there would be twice as many available, and (b) there aren't really fears about shortages on launch day, so people don't feel as inclined to preorder. What I failed to take fully into account was (c) there is far more demand for the Wii than for the PS3.

Luckily, just to be extra-safe, I showed up at 6:30 AM, long before sunrise.

I was tenth in line.

Tenth! Three people had actually showed up at 12:30 with sleeping bags!

By 8:00, there were around 30 people in line. Again, this is the same store where #16 in the PS3 preorder line didn't show up until 8:45 on Tuesday.

By 9:30, there were around 50 people in line.

At that point, the manager showed up and let everyone know that he had 30 units available. Everyone beyond position 30 left. Others continued to show up until opening time (10AM) but were turned away.

Even the manager was shocked by the turnout.

Anyway, it ends well for me. I will have my Wii on launch day (while Mojo gets to wait for shipping from Amazon.com, hah!). It also looks like things are going to go very well for Nintendo this holiday season and beyond.

Oh, and Okami (for PS2) is actually pretty good. (Just finished it a week ago...)

been hearing that was good.

Finally got FIOS the other day, hurry for fast fast speeds, though now my computers still suck for gaming

Wow, so it has gotten to the point where people have to wait in line for the right to have a pre-order, which is supposed to eliminate the need for waiting in line.

And for while you wait....

Lego Star Wars. Seriously, its fun.
