Damn You, Gonzales

Well, we knew it was coming. It looks like the Bush administration is going after more of our rights. This time its 2nd amendment rights, of course.

Now I know some of you out there may be in favor of gun control, but I hope you'll rally together with us anti-gun control guys on this one simply due to the absurdity of the law. Gonzales and the Bush administration are trying to pass a law that would prohibit "suspected terrorists" from buying guns. Of course, we all realize that the word "suspected" can mean almost anything, and in reality this is just another erosion of our civil liberties as defined by our bill of rights.

Welcome to the Communist Pain Train! Next stop, the gas chambers. It is only logical that a suspected terrorists should be rounded up and exterminated. After all, I'm sure the powers that be are only looking out for our best interests. Am I right? Am I right?

OK, you got me. Any law which restricts rights of "suspected terrorists" sucks, given that even Ted Kennedy is on the list of suspected terrorists.

But can we ban people who have been ruled "mentally ill" from purchasing guns?

Aren't many of them already supposed to be banned (including him)? The problem is that there's no real coherent system for tracking who's dangerously nutty.

My understanding is that, under federal law (guidelines?), he should not have been able to purchase the gun. But, for some reason, Virginia state law is different and does not require the check.

Still, I find it ridiculous that you can legally possess AK-47s but not marajuana in this country.

Seems to me if there is such 'credible evidence' that a person is a terrorist that they cannot own a gun, wouldn't we be better off arresting them?
