You don't have some sort of existing network set up so that you can just use windows file sharing and that? In any case the adapter will have all the software you'd need.

i want to sync up some files from my laptop to my desktop. and i dont want to keep using my usb-memory stick to do it.

IE pictures and music and school powerpoint files.

For what purpose? Bluetooth is a means, not an end. Just getting a bluetooth adapter doesn't really do anything unless you have a need for some bluetooth device.

what do you think guys? i'd like to get into the bluetooth world, but i dont know how it works. can someone give me a quick overview? do i need some sort of bluetooth program? yeah, i'm technologically challenged, but i'm not csci dude, so help.
